  • Before you can use your Apple iPhone X, you will need to activate it. If you have access to a Wi-Fi network, you can connect and activate over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, you will need a computer and iTunes.

    If you donʼt have iTunes on your computer, youʼll need to download and install it. In this example, weʼve used iTunes v12.5.1.21.

    Please note: the steps may differ depending on the options selected. Simply follow the prompts on the Apple iPhone X to complete the setup.
  • 1. Swipe up from the bottom to begin.
  • 2. Touch the desired language.
  • 3. Touch the desired country or region.
  • 4. Touch Set Up Manually.
  • 5. Touch the desired Wi-Fi network name.
  • 6. Enter the password and touch Join.
  • 7. To set up Face ID, touch Continue.
  • 8. A frame will appear on the screen. Hold the phone so that your face appears inside the frame.
  • 9. Move your head in a circular motion.
  • 10. Your first scan has been captured. Touch Continue.
  • 11. Move your head in a circular motion.
  • 12. Your Face ID setup is complete. Touch Continue.
  • 13. Enter a six-digit passcode.
  • 14. Re-enter the passcode to confirm it.
  • 15. Touch Restore from iTunes Backup.
  • 16. Connect the Apple iPhone X to the computer using the USB cable. Launch iTunes if it doesn't launch automatically.
  • 17. In iTunes, ensure Set up as new iPhone is selected and click Continue.
  • 18. Click Get Started.
  • 19. The Apple iPhone X has been activated and you can continue setup on the phone.
  • 20. Enter your Apple ID.
  • 21. Touch Password.
  • 22. Enter your password.
  • 23. Touch Next.
  • 24. Touch Agree.
  • 25. Touch the desired option, e.g., Continue.
  • 26. Touch the desired option, e.g., Set Up Later in Wallet.
  • 27. Touch the desired option, e.g., Donʼt use iCloud Keychain.
  • 28. Touch the desired option, e.g., Share with Apple.
  • 29. Touch the desired option, e.g., Share with App Developers.
  • 30. Touch Continue.
  • 31. Touch Continue.
  • 32. Touch Continue.
  • 33. Touch Continue.
  • 34. Touch Continue.
  • 35. Swipe up from the bottom to finish the setup.
