How to set up a new Samsung Galaxy J3 using the setup wizard

When you use your Samsung Galaxy J3 for the first time, it will take you through a setup wizard and help you set up some key features. For example, you can enable the Device Protection feature by adding a Google account and setting a screen lock.

Device Protection helps to protect your phone from being used if it's lost or stolen. Even if your Samsung Galaxy J3 is erased, your Google account password will be required before anyone can use it.

Please note: the steps may differ depending on the options selected. Simply follow the prompts on the Samsung Galaxy J3 to complete the setup wizard.
1. Scroll to the desired language and touch START.
2. Touch the slider to see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. To connect to Wi-Fi, touch the Wi-Fi network name and enter the network password. To skip this step, touch NEXT.
3. Read the End User Licence Agreement and touch NEXT.
4. Touch AGREE.
5. Wait while the phone checks for connections.
6. Sign in to your Google account or create a new one. To sign in, enter your Google account email address and touch NEXT.

Note: a Google account is needed to take advantage of Android features such as Device Protection, Gmail, Google Hangouts and Google Play Store.
7. Enter your Google account password and touch NEXT.
8. Touch ACCEPT.
9. Review and select/deselect Google services. Touch v to scroll down.
10. Touch NEXT.
11. Touch the desired option (e.g., No, thanks) and then touch CONTINUE.
12. Adjust the date/time if needed and then touch NEXT.
13. Select Not now and touch NEXT.
14. Select Protect this device to set a screen lock and enable Device Protection (or deselect to skip this step). Touch NEXT.
15. Select the type of screen lock you want to use. In this example, a PIN will be used.
16. Enter your desired PIN and touch Done.
17. Re-enter your PIN to confirm it and then touch Done.
18. Touch the desired option (e.g., Hide content) and then touch NEXT.
19. Touch Restore from this backup to select a previous device to restore from, otherwise touch NEXT to set up as a new device.
20. Sign in to your Samsung account or create a new one. To skip this step, touch the v arrow.
21. Touch SKIP.
22. Touch FINISH to complete the setup wizard.
