  • If the Samsung Galaxy S III becomes unresponsive or doesn't perform as expected, you can perform a hard reset to return it to a factory default state.
    Important: A hard reset will delete your data, apps and settings. It will not remove data from the memory card.
  • 1. Ensure the phone is off. If it won't turn off, remove then reinsert the battery.
  • 2. If the phone still won't start, follow the steps below.
  • 3. Press and hold the Home button, the Volume up button and the Power button. Keep the buttons held down until the Samsung logo appears.
  • 4. Scroll to wipe data/factory reset by pressing the Volume down button.
  • 5. Press the Power button.
  • 6. Scroll to Yes -- delete all user data by pressing the Volume down button.
  • 7. Press the Power button.
  • 8. The phone will now wipe all contents.
  • 9. Press the Power button.
  • 10. The phone will now reboot to the initial setup screen.
